Perhaps the most bizarre of the many strange oddities which frequent the notorious establishment known as the Hutt Bunker is a curious sentient oil known only as Zed.
Whether this name is its actual identity or merely some kind of designation or code word is a mystery. What is known is that Zed offers a range of alluring tasks for the planet’s many mercenaries. Zed also makes clear its affiliation with the Hutt Cartels, though which specific crime lord it works for remains unknown to most.
Unlike the Arcona Ruce Brogna, with whom the oil enjoys a relatively peaceful co-existence within the Hutt Bunker, Zed’s interests are not far-flung and universal, but instead highly concentrated on the interests of the Hutt it serves. Where Brogna pokes a finger into almost any activity on the planet, Zed offers a range of duties specifically aligned with its own interests. What those interests are, however, remain largely obfuscated even to its most favoured agents.
Furthermore, Zed is very specific in such agents, and pays better than Brogna precisely because it expects work to be completed in a particular fashion, and without error. Likewise, the oil remains incredibly suspicious of any potential agent of the Galactic Empire, even ex-Imperial soldiers or deserters. Avoiding the threat of an undercover spy gathering intelligence on its purposes on Aaru IV apears to be far greater than the potential benefit of acquiring highly trained and talented agenst shed from Imperial bureaucracy.
