LIFELESS SHATTERED WORLD | OUTER RIM
Features
Celestial Interference. The Stybius system is all that remains of what was once a red giant star and four planets. When the star expanded and then contracted into its current state—a tiny white dwarf—it obliterated its satellites and reduced them to radioactive waste. Hence, many navigational systems are often unreliable in the system.
Indescribium. After the destruction of the star system by its explosive sun, the remnant of one such planet—now referred to as Stybius—was found to be mineral-rich, though the most abundant of these minerals, Indescribium, is a highly radioactive material which has become highly sought after as it has found its way through the galactic markets as a luxury item in competition with other noble metals.
Remnants. While the asteroids have been regularly mined for centuries, by a variety of corporate and underworld organisations, it was briefly of interest to the Old Republic, many of whose semi-sentient excavation droids remain, having slowly carved out billions of metric tonnes of rock from the asteroids, leaving strange but perfectly-shaped, hard-edged asteroids in their wake. Everything from hexagonal blocks to tetragonal carved lithoforms to pyramidal structures of immense size have been designed by the droids, often with their own intricate and highly patterned structural layers and carvings. Others are hollowed out entirely, or have become perfectly circular.
Remote. Stybius is a far-flung system with little connection to any nearby location. It can sometimes be difficult to detect thanks to its shrunken star and shattered residuum.
Mining. The entire reason why the otherwise hellish Stybius system is even populated is because of its wide variety and abundance of minerals. Several small underworld bases and pirate fleets operate in the area.
Underworld Controlled. Several small underworld bases and pirate fleets operate in the area. The system is widely contested, suffers from unpreventable smuggling, but the syndicates who claim to “own” the system react violently to any unapproved vessels they can get their hands on.
Locations
Stybius Station. A maintenance centre for the ancient drones who work endlessly in the system, the station has been partly gutted by one of the larger criminal organisations who operate in the area. Its facilities are crude and outdated, but functionally facilitate the trade which drives the wretched economy around the quasi-planet, which itself is a shattered wreck.
Phenomena
Stybius is tidally locked to its sun and no longer rotates. It has been estimated that its solar year would be approximately four and a half thousand Coruscanti days.
Native flora and fauna, if they ever existed on the planet, have been extinct on Stybius since the supernova of its dying sun a millennia ago.
