ONDERA: ONDERON

Features

Capital City. The major metropolis of Ondera is the largest city on the planet and the cultural and political centre of the planet Onderon. Dominated by Sith architecture, it nevertheless operates largely as any other major city on a major planet in the Core Worlds; so long as the oppressive security is ignored.

Sith Architecture. Traditional Sith architecture can be best described as ‘brutalist’, though Ondera has reshaped much of that tradition into something more modern. Its style remains reminiscent of the ancient ways, though stone and marble have given way to durasteel and turned temples into fortresses.

Sith Controlled. Under the auspices of the Galactic Empire, Onderon remains within the control of the Sith, for now. Ondera itself is no different, and perhaps the clamp of the Sith Order’s most paranoid agents is strongest in the city, where there has long been a constant fear that the overarching galactic government will tire of their tolerance of the once-exiled Sith and enforce order of a different kind. Perhaps it is the legendary reputation of the Sith which has dissuaded this assumed eventuality.

Locations

Docking Bays. Ondera’s docking bays are almost exclusively located in what is called The Tower, a gigantic edifice which looms over the city itself. Only the Temple To The Ancients is larger. All space-faring traffic is directed into this one location, and landing elsewhere on the planet is legally—though not always practically—prohibited.

Temple To The Ancients. The central shrine to the ancient ways of the Sith, which holds an innumerable number of artefacts and relics of a lost age, is housed in a building which dominates the Onderan skyline. Reforged in a modernist fashion, yet paying respects to the ancient traditions of Sith architecture, the Temple is both physically and politically dominant—all the planet’s elite govern from this Temple, and many of the galaxy’s most powerful Sith frequent the place to learn from its holocrons and sacred texts.
