SPACE STATION | OUTER RIM

Features

Hyperlane. The Fien Dumonde rests smack at the tail end of the Corellian Run, one of the foremost hyperlanes to cross the galaxy. Certainly, its proximity at the remote end of the run is less than ideal, but it benefits from a great deal of traffic nonetheless.

Trade Route. Thanks to its proximity to both legitimate and illegitimate trade venues, quite a few trade routes pass near enough to the Fien Dumonde to take advantage of this crossroads.

Remote. Despite its eclectic patronage and its proximity to both trade routes and hyperlanes, the Fien Dumonde nevertheless sits in the middle of space in the middle of nowhere, relying on previous patronage and its reputation, as much as anything else, for its commercial success.

Unaligned. The owners of the space station are notoriously unrepentant when it comes to political allegiances, refusing to take sides in conflicts and trading as often with Imperials from backwater worlds as they do with underworld figures or even renegade Jedi.

History

The small starport known as Fien Dumonde is located along a little-used transit hyperlane which connects to the much larger Corellian Run, which services several of the planets close to the edge of the Outer Rim and the Core Worlds. Residents from the nearby world of Arkanon established the venue in the remnant of an abandoned reconnaissance station constructed during the First Clone War.

While the Galactic Empire has taken little interest in the station, it does in fact benefit from its existence, as the starport facilitates trade in some resources which the New Order Corporation would find inconvenient to procure among the worlds it controls. The bulk of the starport has developed a culinary focus, yet the vast majority of these venues are cheap cantinas serving the kind of bilge which most citizens of the Galactic Empire would consider offensive to every sense they possess. Yet, the unusually poor quality of the food does nevertheless appeal to a variety of species from the Outer Rim, for whom such fare is actually nutritious. No Imperial customs process would ever have approved the bilious gruel which the various cheap vendors offer to their customers.

Locations

Fien Gastralaxy. Despite the quality of the bulk of the Fien Dumonde’s offerings, one restaurant stands above and beyond the others, having attained for itself a reputation which extends across whole sectors—and has arguably redeemed the reputation of the entire station.
