TRADING POST: AARU IV
Features
Remote. While most people on Aaru IV know of the Pillar’s existence, very few are familiar with it. Rumour has it that the trading post uses scrambling technology to interfere with communications, in order to stave off aggressive attempts to overwhelm the post with force. Individual merchants are often sold licensed beacons which can locate the Pillar using sonic pulses keyed to the tracking device.
Anything And Everything. The Pillar is famous for the diversity of its wares. Thanks to the recent influx of a number of off-world Jawas, the resulting cornucopia is considered by many to be little more than junk. Despite this, the trading post does a roaring trade, and has become known as the place to go for unusual, rare, or exotic goods. The common saying that a Jedi’s junk is a Jawa’s treasure is often inverted when it comes to the Pillar.
Independent. The various merchant-lords of the Pillar maintain a steadfast independence from both the criminal factions on Aaru IV as well as Industrial Automaton.
Locations
The Great Bazaar. The lowest level of the Pillar, perched precariously beneath a colossal outcropping of stone, is known as one of the most eclectic and extraordinary merchant gatherings in the sector. Unfortunately it is also notoriously expensive, since competition for goods is fierce and the location of the Pillar itself is counterintuitively suppressed.
Blood Barracks. On one of the higher levels of the Pillar—close to the top, most talk has it—reside a squad of troopers known simply as “Blood Legion”. Some say these are ex-Stormtroopers turned mercenaries. Disillusioned with the New Order, the loyal members of a regiment essentially deserted to the Outer Rim seeking fame and fortune, and have been recruited by the merchant council who run the Pillar to defend its interests.
