Navalan

PLASMATIC UNTAMED WORLD | OUTER RIM

Navalan.png

Features

Remote. Navalan is far from most trade centres and is listed on few star charts.

Abundant Resources. The highly volatile atmosphere of Navalan—the extremely rare plasmatic environment—also provides ideal conditions for some of the galaxy’s rarest resources, which can be found at various levels throughout its storm-ridden biospheres.

Corporate Controlled. While the inclement conditions on Navalan make permanent facilities quite dangerous to operate, several corporations—most notably Altovast—have invested enormously in the extraction of rare elements they cannot easily source elsewhere. Because of this, and the truly chaotic means of travelling from orbit into the upper atmosphere, smuggling is quite rare on the planet.

Type III Atmosphere. Local surveys initially rated Navalan as a Type II atmosphere, until the first unshielded ship which entered the storms of even the relatively “mild” upper atmosphere quickly found its hull reduced to burned slag by the harsh heat of the plasmatic environment within minutes. It is presumed that no biological form could hope to survive in the atmosphere under any conditions whatsoever.

Locations

Navalan Centre. The primary gas mining facility run by Altovast is a gigantic hub of physically connected floating facilities which are connected by hyper-rail in order to minimise the need to travel between facilities by any other form of transport.

Phenomena

A standard day on Navalan lasts thirty-five hours, and the length of its year is thre hundred and ten local days.

Native flora is microbial and its fauna are enormous, chitinous whale-like creatures called kerakia which feed upon the bacterial lifeforms that have adapted to the extreme heat of the planet’s atmosphere.
