Research Centre Aurek
IMPERIAL RESEARCH FACILITY: NAROLAX II
Features
Facility Hub. Research Centre Aurek is the largest of the several research facilities on Narolax II. Its central location and docking facilities make it the central hub for the entire cluster of facilities, and its spire offers not just docking platforms but also a variety of communications systems which facilitate contact with the security detail in orbit.
Subterranean. While the primary tower looms over the desolate frozen landscape, the bulk of the facility actually lies beneath the surface. Very little activity takes place above ground, as the harsh conditions freeze and quickly degrade equipment and vehicles.
Imperial Controlled. The research facilities keep their research a carefully guarded secret, though with the extensive military presence it is clear the Galactic Empire considers it valuable enough to protect with a visible display of force. All traffic approaching the system is scanned and requires sophisticated code clearance for passage to the planet below.
Locations
Docking Bays. While larger docking bays are hidden within shelters just beneath the surface, a number of exposed platforms jut from the primary spire. These docking bays are exposed to the elements, and so are typically only utilised when weather conditions are appropriate. At least one senior imperial officer—among those whose quarters in the tower offer them a private landing pad—have met a grizzly fate having underestimated the threat of the inclement conditions.
Crypt Company. The planet is only half-jokingly referred to as ‘the Crypt’, and the elite Stormtrooper company whose duty it is to secure the facility takes its name from this reference. After a serious security breach, the commander of the company was killed pursuing insurgents off-world, and the entire company has been reviewed and supplementary officers stationed on the planet to ensure a more efficient response should a second attack take place. While Crypt Company have been led by the able Commander Fosk for several years, the recent disappearance of the officer has been a cause for some concern.
